Dear Friend,
I don’t know what you’re experiencing today, but I do know this: God delights in connecting with you through prayer.
When Jesus taught us how to pray, he began with these words: “Our Father in heaven” (Matthew 6:9 NIV).
When Jesus called God “Father,” he was breaking all the stereotypes. God is a person, not some distant power; he’s a Father, not a force. And because of that, you and I can have a real relationship with him.
Whether you’ve had the world’s best father or world’s worst father, God isn’t like any father you’ve known. He’s immeasurably more. So what kind of Father is God?
He is a caring Father. Psalm 103:13 says, “As a father is kind to his children, so the LORD is kind to those who honor him” (GNT).
He is a consistent Father. Second Timothy 2:13 promises, “If we are faithless, he remains faithful” (NIV).
He is a close Father. The Bible assures us, “The LORD is near to all who call on him” (Psalm 145:18 NIV).
He is a competent Father. The Living Bible paraphrase says, “God . . . is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes” (Ephesians 3:20).
I hope that through the ministry of Daily Hope, you’ve had a chance to grow closer to our heavenly Father. If that’s been your experience, I’d be so glad to hear your story! Just email me at Rick@PastorRick.com. I always love to hear from you.
With love,
Pastor Rick
