In May, Pastor Rick spoke via livestream to church leaders at the General Assembly of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa. He shared his heart for identifying new ways to mobilize the church to fulfill the Great Commission—a passion that was reignited 20 years ago when he visited a village church in South Africa that met under a simple tent.

Pastor Rick recalls:

As I walked up to this little church, a young African pastor came up to me—25 years old—and said, “I know who you are.” I thought, How does he know who I am? He said, “You’re Pastor Rick. I get your sermons every week.” I said, “Wait a minute. You don’t have electricity in this village. You don’t have water in this village.” He said, “No, but they’re putting the internet in every major post office.” 

So once a week, this 25-year-old pastor walks two hours to the nearest post office, downloads my free sermon, walks back, and teaches it to his people. He said, “Pastor Rick, you’re the only training I’ve ever had.” 

His words deeply shook me—and in that moment, everything changed. I went out and sat on the ground under the African sky that night and said, “I will give the rest of my life to godly leaders like that young pastor.” 

Pastors across the globe are leading without training or tools. And they are hungry for help. It’s the reason Pastor Rick has dedicated himself to equipping leaders to bring new believers into their churches, prepare them for ministry, and send them out to share the hope of Jesus with the world.

Thanks to your generosity, Pastor Rick has expanded his efforts to train leaders across the globe—with recent visits to Korea, Brazil, Peru, Amsterdam, Hawaii, and beyond. And what he's witnessing is a powerful movement of God: Revival is breaking out as more people commit to the Great Commission—even in remote areas and countries closed to the gospel.
